EXAMPLES OF KARA'S AGROECOLOGY & FOOD SYSTEMS CONSULTING PROJECTS

I WORK WITH MY CLIENTS IN VARIOUS CAPACITIES, FROM CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT TO SUPPLY CHAIN SUPPORT.

Fearless Farmers – Present and contribute to curriculum development on the interconnection between soil and human health to help FF create an ecosystem of educators, farmers, ranchers, and youth through regenerative agriculture.

The Common Market – Identified, performed farm visits, and onboarded new grass-fed beef vendors for CM's Texas food hub that fit their rigorous food system and agricultural practices criterion.

NC Choices - Hired as the Event Director for the Carolina Meat Conference, a nationally recognized grassroots event attended by 650 people focused on bringing together every part of the Southeast meat supply chain.

Hickory Nut Gap Meats – Performed Ecological Outcome Verification monitoring on partner grass-fed and finished cattle farms as part of their regenerative labeling program for HNG's meat products.

Integrity Soils CREATE Program – Wrote the nutrition module for a 36-week intensive program designed to train and empower consultants and coaches in the theory, principles, and practices behind healthy, agroecological systems.

Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts -Developed and taught a week-long course curriculum centered on using vegetarian recipes and meals as medicine for diabetes, cancer, and heart disease in NEACA’s six-month professional culinary program. Instruction included 15 hours of lectures and 12 lab hours focused on utilizing food as medicine, menu planning, and recipe conversions to enhance nutritional value. I taught this course four times over a two- years.

…AND NOW IT'S YOUR TURN!

HERE'S WHAT MY CLIENTS HAVE TO SAY

I watched Kara's presentation to the Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I appreciate her approach, specifically her ability to contextualize the research she cites and bring the audience along into the myriad of factors that impact gut health and agriculture practices. It is increasingly hard to find both a holistic and academic approach.  She clearly understands how to connect the dots and name key obstacles while suggesting paths forward, all while acknowledging the complexities at play in the agricultural systems in which I work.

Sarah Blacklin, Director, NC Choices

I came to Kara about 6 days post-surgery. I had dire gastrointestinal distress and pain that kept me up at night. Her consultation set me up with a map to recovery. She directed me on what foods to include and what to avoid, suggested supplements, and other holistic specialists. Within days, I started feeling better. Her confidence and her plan were empowering in a doubtful moment. She gave me tools to heal, but also belief that healing and health would come. I highly recommend Kara as an invaluable holistic health coach at any stage of your health continuum!
